Meet Alanna
ALANNA'S STORY
Alanna Vieira was born prematurely in Boston, MA on July 18, 2017. Right off the bat, she had to spend nearly forty days in the hospital with a large omphalocele (a defect where the intestines push to the outside of an infant’s body through a hole in the navel). Once that was repaired, the Vieira family thought they were out of the woods, but found themselves back in the emergency room with Alanna seven months later. An X-ray and CT Scan showed signs of CDH. Right away Alanna was prepped for emergency surgery.
Even with little time to prepare or process this new diagnosis, the Vieiras were thrilled that this surgery was successful. As you can see Alanna is looking as lovable as ever. She is lucky to have two older brothers that adore her and their parents are doing a great job taking care of all three kids. As of June 2018, Alanna is now back home with her family but still has numerous outpatient appointments with the team at Boston Children’s Hospital to aid in her recovery. The Vieira's are happy to have everyone together at home, even though all of them know there is a new boss in town - and she runs a tight ship! Through all the unexpected twists and turns, Fore Hadley is happy to be supporting Alanna’s family as they work to establish stability in their lives. Go Alanna Go!
